Rosado's Early Goal Propels Blue Streaks In Win Against Oberlin College

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS - It was a beautiful night at Don Shula Stadium as the Blue Streaks hosted the Yeowomen of Oberlin College for an under-the-lights contest.

The Blue Streaks came in with a win this past Tuesday night against Pitt-Greensburg by a score of 3-1 to get their second win on the season.

The team kept it rolling getting their second win of the week to move to 3-1-2 in another non-conference matchup.

In the match's opening minutes, the Blue Streaks held control of the ball on their end in a back-and-forth fashion. In the 11th minute, Madyson Rosado broke the tie and scored the game's first goal, assisted by a cross from Emily Patrzyk to get things going for the Blue Streaks.

Oberlin responded with a few shots down the stretch of the first half to keep the Blue Streaks from getting into their offensive zone.

The second half of the game was a battle as both teams were fighting for complete possession of the ball with a trade of numerous throw-ins. As time went on, the game got a little chippy as Oberlin College was assessed with a yellow card towards the final few minutes of the game with a foul caused by the Blue Streaks.

The defense showed up, recording the Blue Streaks' first shutout of the 2023 campaign against Oberlin College and limiting shots in the second half.

John Carroll notches their third win on the season, staying undefeated at home and getting another non-conference matchup victory. The Blue Streaks move their record to 11-2 against the Yeowomen and extend their win streak to 10 games. The trio of Madyson Rosado, Emily Patrzyk, and Meredith Coloain combined with a total of seven shots for the offense.

Rosado records her third goal of the season and is excited about the offense they have going for the team. "We're working really hard to get on the end of it," said Rosado. "We all worked hard together and had a nice passing string going on. Emily played off a beautiful one and I was able to place it in and that picked up our intensity a bit. I feel like that helped us get into a rhythm."

Rosado mentions how important recovery is as being one of the key components heading into the matchup in the next couple of days.

"It's all about trying to do the best for our bodies obviously playing tonight," said Rosado. "Keeping a good mentality, working hard, and pushing each other. That's all we can do."

The Blue Streaks will travel to Wooster, OH to take on the Fighting Scots on Saturday, September 23 at 4:00 pm as they look to add another game to the win column.
