The Blue Streaks enjoyed some nice highlights in the defeat.
BUFFALO – Following a month-long break from competition, John Carroll Women's Swimming & Diving showed no nerves.

The Blue Streaks have not been resting by any means, still preparing and readying for the second-half push. But Friday's return to action provided an excellent challenge for the Blue Streaks.

After beating a snowstorm to make the trip to Buffalo, the Blue Streaks experienced a 184-105 defeat to Canisius University in the program's first trip to the Division I school.

That's not to say that the night was void of highlights. To the contrary, an early highlight happened in the 200 Free, as Mairin Dalziel carded second with a mark of 1:58.35. Soon after, Olivia Goodman added her stamp to the night with a second-place tally, touching the wall in 2:17.87 in the 200 Fly.

But one of the night's best moments was yet to come, as the Blue Streaks dominated the 50 Free. Dalziel and Abby Zablotny impressed with a one-two punch in the event, registering times of 24.65 and 24.90. Dalziel and Zablotny didn't stop there. The young duo nabbed second and third in the 100 Free with respective times of 54.05 and 55.32.

In the 200 Backstroke, Lauren Koppelmann repped JCU well, tallying a time of 2:16.82 for third. Olivia Goodman followed with a third-place time in the 200 Breaststroke, penciling in a time of 2:35.17.

John Carroll dominated the diving events. Emily Gelske stood as the MVP, winning both the 1 Meter and 3 Meter events. The Toledo native turned in a score of 140.85 in the 1 Meter and a 124.25 in the 3 Meter. Sarah Ruetschle tallied second in the 1 Meter, scoring a 123.00. Sarah Roehrs secured third in the 1 Meter with a score of 120.83 and then turned in second in the 3 Meter with a tally of 108.45.

A victory capped off the day's events, as JCU took the cake (and 11 points) in the 200 Free Relay. Grace Roberts, Kaitlyn Hilty, Anna Glass, and Zablotny achieved a winning time of 1:43.41.

Tomorrow, the Blue Streaks will be back in action. John Carroll will host Heidelberg University in the first meeting between the two teams since the Student Princes announced the return of swimming as a varsity sport (HU offered swimming in the early '80s). Bella Genise, Anna Glass, Annamarie Habusta, Audrey Prisby, and Sarah Roehrs will celebrate Senior Day at 12:45 pm before the meet.
