The Blue Streaks were led by Gwyneth Edwards, who notched a sixth-place finish.

ALBION, Mich. – John Carroll Women's Wrestling traveled up north for the second time in as many weekends.

The Blue Streaks headed to the Albion Open, taking part in the open for the second straight season.

No team scorers were taken. Gwyneth Edwards led with a sixth-place finish, one of several Streaks who notched wins.

Gwyneth Edwards led the way for the Blue & Gold. The sophomore scored her first win of the campaign, with a win by pin in just 31 seconds in the second round. After a tech fall loss, she lost in the quarterfinal, but then bounced back with a last-second pin in the opening round of the consolations. Her day then ended with a pair of losses, both 10-0 tech falls, to finish sixth.

Also competing at the 145 pound weight class, Jordan Palmer opened with a loss. But then the second-year Blue Streak fired back with an 8-5 decision and then a quick pin win. But her day concluded in the next round of the consis.

Talia Mitchell started the day well with a 10-2 decision in the first round. After losing to the eventual 160-pound champ, Mitchell faced off with teammate Bella Cyrkiel to start the consis. She bested her fellow Blue Streak, winning by pin. But then Mitchell's day came to a close with a defeat to the eventual fifth-place wrestler.
