Women's Swimming & Diving Tallies 8th at Kenyon's Total Performance Invitational

GAMBIER, Ohio -- This weekend, the John Carroll Women's Swimming & Diving traveled to a future North Coast Athletic Conference fellow for a strong test.

The Blue Streaks took part in the Kenyon Total Performance Invitational from Thursday through Saturday.

John Carroll enjoyed some nice swims, but finished in eighth place out of eight teams competing in the event despite some great energy on the pool deck. 

Results

John Carroll tallied a 14th place effort in the 200 Free Relay to start things off on Thursday's finals session. Bree Shirkey, Grace Roberts, Taylor Hudson, and Mairin Dalziel. Also on Thursday, Mairin Dalziel made it to the B final of the 50 Free, notching 18th (24.37). 

A trio of Blue Streaks did well in B finals on Friday. Olivia Goodman kicked things off by taking second in the B final of the 100 Fly. The Rochester, Michigan native touched the wall at 4:42.21, good for 12th place. Soon after, Dalziel accomplished the same feat in the 200 Free, as her time of 1:55.09 locked up 12th. 

After missing out on the A final by one spot, Audrey Sevald improved by nearly a second in the B final. The Akron native recorded a time of 58.08 to beat all other swimmers in the B final and an 11th place finish overall. Dalziel, Shirkey, Hannah Smith, and JJ Gowetski combined for 13th in the 800 Free Relay with a mark of 7:55.16 to finish the day. 

For starters on Saturday, Ella Muzychak garnered 15th place in the 1650 Free. Sevald soon impressed again in her B final, trimming a bit of time in the 200 Back to get to 2:10.42 for 18th. Dalziel got into the fun in the B final of the 100 Free with an eventual 18th place effort. 

In the 200 Breaststroke, Goodman grabbed 18th with a tally of 2:26.75. Later in the 200 Fly, Gowetski garnered 18th in 2:13.01. 

JCU wrapped things up in the 400 Free Relay. Dalziel, Roberts, Gowetski, and Shirkey timed in at 3:36.90 for 16th. 

Kenyon finished in first place in the team standings with 2486.5 points. JCU compiled 344 points for the weekend.

The Blue Streaks will be back in action after Thanksgiving, hosting Oberlin College on December 6.
