Blue Streaks Continue To Find Their Stride Posting Several Personal Bests At YSU And Ashland

For the third straight weekend, Blue Streaks were in action, competing across three different venues in Northeast, Ohio. The squad split up to take part in the Dan Kinsey Invite at Oberlin, the YSU Mid-Major invite in Youngstown, and the Ashland Jud Logan Light Giver Invitational in Ashland.

Kicking off the day for the men at the YSU Mid-Major was Ian Paul and Josh Ackerman in the 1000m run. The pair both saw PR's in the event, with Paul finishing 2nd overall with a time of 2:29.89, and the freshman Ackerman, achieving a new personal best of 2:36.78. 

Amongst a successful day in Ashland, the men saw eight personal records, this time in the one mile event. In the first heat, Dominic Delmoro finished with a personal best time of 4:15.83, and Mike Hvizdos finished just behind, winding up with a personal best of his own with a time of 4:17.05 in the event. Nate Julien (4:16.71), Jack Curtis (4:25.98), Liam Noss (4:23.49), Isaac Bourne (4:24.15), Jacob Gerhardt (4:27.99), Tayo McLaughlin (4:33.14), and Brian Standley (4:33.54) would all PR in later heats of the mile. 

The freshman duo of Josh Ackerman and Chris Whiting would both PR in the 800m, in back to back heats. Ackerman finished in first place in heat number five finishing with a final time of 1:58.28, his personal best. Whiting raced a heat before Ackerman in heat number four, and finished with his personal record at 1:59.08. 

In the Men's 400 Meter Dash Elite race, Sophomore Dustin Horner posted a PR of 50.18 seconds to place third in his heat. Victor Ononogbo would also PR in the open 400 meter dash with a time of 50.39 seconds. 

Capping off the day in Ashland for the men was Ryan Champa and Matt Costanzo. Both would go on to PR in the 3000m run. Champa finished at 8:31.67, and Costanzo at 8:49.09. 

Over in Oberlin at the Dan Kinsey Invite the men flourished. In the men's weight throw Noah Schroeder led a 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th finish, tossing 15.58 meters. In the men's shot put event Matt Russo was also victorious with a toss of 14.06 meters. 

The Blue Streaks will be back next week as they take on another meet weekend including the Baldwin Wallace Mid-February Meet, GVSU Big Meet, and the BU Valentine Invite.
