Men's Tennis Finishes Hilton Head Trip with Loss to Eastern Nazarene

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Despite a stout fight by John Carroll Men's Tennis, the Blue Streaks will head home with a defeat.

John Carroll battled and had some chances, but Eastern Nazarene College got the better of the Blue & Gold, 6-3 at Shipyard Racquet Club on Hilton Head Island.

Following the defeat to the Massachusetts squad, JCU heads home with a 1-3 mark in spring break action, and 1-6 overall.

Doubles play portended good tidings with a pair of victories. Logan Langovsky and Grant Sarnowski experience a fierce fight at No. 1, emerging with a well-earned 8-7 conquest decided by a 10-4 tiebreaker.

Anthony Markello and Phillip Gorun also locked in a win at No. 3, 8-4. The duo tallied a second straight win while playing as a team.

Sarnowski snagged a singles win at No. 2, with a hard-earned conquest. His 6-4, 6-4 match marked his team-best second singles victory of the year.

Unfortunately the success ended there, as a windy day ultimately spelled defeat for JCU, though many of the battles were close.

Markello's No. 3 bout was a narrow one, decided 5-7, 3-6. Gorun's No. 4 battle was also tight, with a 4-6, 2-6 result. Griffin Millspaugh was in it the whole way before a 5-7, 2-6 defeat.

Weather-permitting, Lourdes University will be JCU's next opponent on Sunday, March 17.
