WEST LAFAYETTE – On Day 2, the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship became essentially a two-horse race.

Entering Sunday's final 18-hole round, the Blue Streaks trail the Cardinals by a very narrow three strokes.

John Carroll wrapped up the day at +12, with a slow start followed up by an excellent recovery.

Austin Malley began his Saturday efforts with a bogey, but quickly found a groove, including a nice birdie on par-5 No. 17. His first nine concluded with a two-over-par 38. But the freshman was far from done with his heater, with a trio of birdies on his next nine holes. His final nine holes of the day revealed more greatness, with birdies on No. 10 and No. 12. The Peters Township grad concluded the third round with a three-under-par 69. He now stands alone in eighth place.

Jack Gerborg thrived to start the day, with birdies on the 14th and 18th holes to begin one-under-par in his first nine. The sophomore's fantastic start continued into his next nine holes, with birdies in three of his first four holes on Greens/River. The Avon native opened his back nine with a birdie as well. He came to the clubhouse with a 73 (+1) for his third round after hitting par on his final four holes. All told, Gerborg stands tied for third.

Zach Brinks started on a solid note, with a +4 in his first nine holes of the day, the back nine of the River/Pines course. The Cincinnati native started to heat up as he began the Greens/River course. Birdies on the 2nd, 4th, and 9th holes helped him greatly, as he nabbed a 33 (-3) to lead JCU in the middle nine holes of the day. The veteran concluded solidly, wrapping up his third round with an even 72. Brinks is just outside the top-10 in 11th.

London Hoyser stayed even by hitting par on each of his first six holes before three straight bogeys. The freshman then locked in with birdies on No. 2 and No. 8. Back-to-back birdies on No. 9 and 10 helped greatly. Those strong holes propelled him to a four-over-par for the day, including a 73 (+1) for the third round. Hoyser stands tied for sixth entering the final day.

Wade Boyle closed out a tough second round but then started to find a rhythm to begin the third. A birdie on No. 3, a 504-yard par-5 hole, helped to steady his game. The Greensburg Central Catholic grad hit his stride fully in the back nine on Greens/River, with a birdie on No. 10, an exceptional eagle on No. 11, and a birdie on No. 12. He finished the back nine with a two-under-par, equaling a 73 (+1) for his third round to match Hoyser and Gerborg.

Tee times start at 10:20 am and continue through 10:52 am for JCU on the final day of the OAC Championship.
