OBERLIN – The good times keep rolling for John Carroll Women's Soccer.
The Blue Streaks notched a third straight North Coast Athletic Conference victory, advancing to 9-3-1 overall on the year.
With three NCAC wins, the Blue Streaks are perched atop the conference standings early on in league play.
In the 42nd minute, Kathryn Shaffer sent in a free kick to the box. The Oberlihn keeper misplayed it, and Brooke Berkowitz. The Saint Joseph Academy grad was in the right place at the right time, tapping it in for the game's first goal.Â
Alli Malinky sent forward a great ball for Berkowitz. The first year nearly tripped on an Oberlin tackle but kept going, and right-footed the ball to the left of the charging Oberlin keeper with 3:49 to play in the half.Â
JCU stood in full control at the break, 2-0. Berkowitz's two-tally effort marked the first such effort of her career.Â
If that weren't enough, the Blue Streaks added to the lead early in the second half. Abby Smith sent in a nice cross to the box. The Yeowomen were unable to make a play on the ball, and Andrea Quintero Delgado made the hosts pay. The first year rushed in and tapped the ball into the back of the net for the 3-0 lead just 53 seconds into the half.Â
Oberlin spoiled the shutout in the 69th minute, breaking the shutout and trimming the margin to two goals.Â
Even still, the Blue Streaks continued to dominate overall, finishing with a 15-5 advantage in shots, 12-1 on goal.Â
