Quincy Newsom Earns NCAC Offensive Player Of The Week After Performance Against Ohio Wesleyan This Past Saturday
CLEVELAND – A conference-clinching win has also secured a weekly award for John Carroll Football.

The Blue Streaks sunk Ohio Wesleyan, 55-17, in a dominant showing at Don Shula Stadium on Saturday to secure at least a share of the North Coast Athletic Conference crown. One of the powerhouses who made it happen has been recognized.

Quincy Newsom is the NCAC Offensive Player of the Week for football.

The Twinsburg native headlined a powerful ground game for the Blue Streaks. Behind a fearsome offensive line, Newsom bullied his way for 145 yards on the ground on just 12 carries, an impressive 12.1 yards per carry.

Newsom's excellent day did not lack for highlights, as the junior rushed for a pair of touchdowns as well as a 37-yard scamper.

The star running back has formed a formidable 1-2-3 punch with Nemo Jenkins and Cohen Klimak this year. Newsom has just 69 carries on the year but has made the most of them, gaining 485 yards, fifth in the NCAC. His 7.0 yards per carry is a marvel, ranking third in the conference amongst backs with 20 or more attempts.

Additionally, Newsom's 6 rushing touchdowns on the year rank tied for fourth in the conference behind fellow stud back Jenkins.

Newsom and the Blue Streaks will be back in action on Saturday at Denison. A win would clinch the conference crown outright. Either way, the Blue Streaks will be bound for the NCAA Division III Playoffs.
