Men's Cross Country Ranked Second Going Into NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships
LOUISVILLE, KY – After an impressive showing at the 2025 NCAC Championships two weeks ago at Kenyon College, the Streaks are heading back to E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park for their next championship opportunity.

The 2025 NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Cross Country Championships will take place in Louisville, Kentucky this Saturday, November 15th. The men's 8k championship race is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM (ET).

Going into the weekend, the men are currently ranked second in the Great Lakes, just behind Hope College, who has been the number one ranked team leading up to the regional championships.

John Carroll has had recent success on the regional stage. From 2021 to 2023, the men have won the meet, earning automatic bids to the NCAA National Championships. Looking back at last year in 2024, that streak ended with a second-place finish overall, losing to Calvin, but that wouldn't stop the team from earning their fifth consecutive National Championship appearance.

The men will look to continue their momentum after breaking the program scoring record at a conference meet with 24 points, winning their first ever NCAC Championship with eight runners earning All-Conference honors.

Key contributors to look out for will be Nate Julien, Sam Su, and Ian Paul. Julien and Paul are the only returners who have earned All-Region honors. Su will make his second-straight appearance at Regionals. This top three for JCU was able to showcase what they were capable of two weeks ago at the conference meet.

Nate was awarded the NCAC Runner of the Year award for winning his first individual conference title.

Charlie Payne will look to place himself in the mix early as he is coming off a solid performance at the conference championships, earning the NCAC Newcomer of the Year award for his seventh-place finish individually.

Both Phil Coury and Chuck Reigrut will be battling for the top five and six spots for JCU and will look to stay within reach of those top runners. Coury and Reigrut also earned All-Conference awards individually to help contribute.
Other runners who have provided more depth throughout the year include Joey Naiman and Brian Standley. Both individuals earned All-Conference awards as well to help propel the team.

The Blue Streaks have become very familiar with the course in Louisville and will look to rely on their experience in the past. Back in October, the men placed fifth overall at the Louisville Cross Country Classic with a score of 212 points.

Some other notable teams to look out for are the Otterbein Cardinals, who currently stand at third in the region and won the Ohio Athletic Conference championship for the first time since 2019.

Case Western Reserve and Trine University round up the top five going into the weekend.

With a balance of experience and individuals who are making their debuts on the regional stage, the men will look to continue their success in the Great Lakes and earn their spot to the NCAA National Championships in Spartanburg, South Carolina next Saturday, November 22nd.
