JCU got off to an auspicious start, picking up 31 points with a nice ninth-place finish in the 200 Free Relay. Patrick Branch, Dominic Falcon, Florio, and Cameron Cook combined for a time of 1:23.34.

Jacob Florio enjoyed an exceptional weekend. Florio's finest hour occurred in the 200 Backstroke. The first year swam out of his mind for a fourth-place finish in the event, carding a time of 1:48.30. Florio not only scored a new school record, but also picked up an NCAA B cut. Miller snagged a 12th place finish in the event, as well.

In addition to his record-breaking 100 Backstroke, the North Royalton native roared for a time of 50.64, winning the B final to place 11th after missing out on the A final. Vertikoff and Miller tied for 14th in the B final, as well.

Alex Gallagher thrived in the breaststroke events for the Blue Streaks. The sophomore soared for a seventh place finish in the A final 50 Breast, notching a time of 25.38. In the 100 Breast, the sophomore scored seventh, touching the wall in 55.32. In the 200 Breast, Gallagher finished, you guessed it, seventh place. For his final act, the Hudson native clocked in at 2:01.22.

Also in the 50 Breaststroke, Ian Hofmann tied for 14th with a time of 25.87 and Bart Kubis followed right behind in 16th at 25.96. After Gallagher in the 100 Breast, Kubis and Hofmann did strong work in the B final in 13th and 15th. Kubis and Branch snatched 13th and 14th in the 200 Breast as part of the B final.

Michael Vertikoff enjoyed a great weekend. The Hilliard native touched the wall in 49.90 for 14th in the 100 Butterfly. His 200 Fly was also one to behold, as the first year one-upped himself with a 13th-place time of 1:51.59.

The youngster also tallied a time of 23.90 in the 50 Back in the A final for 10th. David Miller repped JCU in the B final with a 16th place effort.

Cook cultivated a strong finish in the B final of the 200 Free. The Fredericksburg, Virginia native snagged a time of 1:39.54 for 12th place overall. In addition to that strong effort, Cook did well in the 50 Free, making the B final and finishing 15th at 21.05. His 100 Free effort was nothing to sneeze at either, as the sophomore snagged 14th with a mark of 45.73.

Sam Kmet posted a fantastic result in the 1650 Free. The Richfield native worked hard for a time of 16:06.69 for 10th in the lengthy event, a great effort. Zach Marinis also did well a few spots back with a mark of 16:40.99.

A pair of Blue Streaks picked up big points in the 200 IM A Final. Florio and Gallagher finished back-to-back with times of 1:51.63 and 1:52.46 for 9th and 10th. Additionally, Joe Nadur and Patrick Branch snagged points by finishing 12th and 19th overall with good swims in the B final. Nadur roared for a time of 4:04.67 in the 400 IM, good for ninth place in the A final.

In other relays, JCU put up some points. Miller, Gallagher, Vertikoff, and Branch worked together in the 400 Medley for a time of 3:21.37 and 10th. But the best finish of the weekend happened later in the 200 Medley Relay. Miller, Gallagher, Vertikoff, and Cook worked for a great time of 1:30.12 for seventh. JCU also nabbed an eighth-place mark of 3:04.78 in the 400 Free Relay, as Branch, Nathan Reigle, Owen Holm, and Cook did the trick to close things out.
