Men’s Track & Field Opens Indoor Season At YSU Icebreaker

Men's Track & Field Makes 2025-2026 Indoor Season Debut At YSU Icebreaker
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – A small contingent of the men's track & field team made their debuts this evening at the YSU Icebreaker hosted by Youngstown State University. 

It was a solid opener full of exceptional races that will be a great tone setter for the indoor season that will resume in January.

In the men's 60 meter qualifying race, senior Brody Hanlon kicked things off for the Blue Streaks, running a new personal best with a time of 7.19 seconds to place 19th overall. 

Making his first ever appearance in the 800 meter run, senior Basheer Alramahi placed first overall with a new personal best of 1:51.78.

Following behind was first-year Ebrahim Alzraqat, who made his indoor track debut for JCU, earning seventh overall with a time of 1:56.75. 

Another first-year who made their debut was Lars Broberg. The Gilmour Academy native ran 22.08 seconds in the 200 meter dash, placing sixth overall. 

Next up for the team will be the first annual JCU Alumni Meet, which will be taking place in the brand new Athletic Wellness & Event Center on Saturday, January 17th at 12:00pm (ET).
