Women's Wrestling Has Strong Showing at AMCC Duals

Altoona, PA. - The John Carroll women's wrestling team had a great Saturday afternoon competing at the first ever Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Duals and won four of their five matches finishing second overall. 

Assistant coach Ryan Monk said "I Unbelievably proud of our effort and the level at which we competed at. Our ladies had a very high level of resilience in the face of adversity. They answered the call and found a way today. Grateful for our team and their efforts."

At 103, Taylor MacAdams had a great showing going 2-0 and earned two bonus point victories. One match, included a 11-4 victory against Naomi Nachmias of Penn State Altoona. MacAdams also earned a 4 points, as she won 11-0 against Joyce Rodriguez Santina of Elmira.

Addy Crane was phenomenal at 110, as the first year would go 2-0 throughout the day, including a pinfall over a two-time national qualifier. 

At 117, Emily Leesberg had a strong effort by winning three matches. Leesberg earned three points in a crucial match against Hiram, which would be the closest for JCU for the dual. The Gahanna native earned 16 points in the other matches throughout the afternoon. 

Nora Mooney had a fantastic showing at 138 by winning the two matches she competed in. 

Rounding out the JCU crew was Bella Cyrkiel, Leslie Sullivan, and Olivia Beaulieu who all had strong performances this afternoon. 
Head coach Mark Hawald said after the Blue Streaks performance today, "This is another milestone in the growth and development of our program. Being the only women's wrestling team in the NCAC I could not be more happy to be a part of a great opportunity for our women's wrestlers to compete for a conference title. It is an honor to be a part of making history and our ladies are doing just that."

John Carroll will be back in action next Saturday at the Berg Holiday Duals starting at 9 a.m.
