Looking at last year, the men placed second overall as a team scoring 156 points hosted by Muskingum University and are focusing on a major breakthrough this year.

One of the biggest names to highlight for this year is junior Basheer Alramahi. He will be making appearances in the 500 and 200 meter dash races, as well as the 4x400 meter relay. He is currently ranked second in the country in the 400 meter dash.

Another athlete to highlight this upcoming weekend is graduate student Jimmy Kartsonas as he comes in as the number one ranked athlete in the 60 meter hurdles in the OAC. Kartsonas is coming off of a huge personal best of 8.07 seconds at the Ed Finnigan Greater Cleveland Colleges Invite, breaking the school record for the second time this season. He is also 14th in the country with that mark.

On the distance side, be on the lookout for Dominic Delmoro and Ryan Champa as they will be leading for the Blue Streaks in both the 5000 and 3000 meter races. Both are ranked in the top 10 in the conference and will look to contribute heavily. Nate Julien has been improving this season as he comes in with a top time in the conference in the 3000 meter at 8:34.41.

In the mid-distance events, a runner to also watch out for will be first year Sam Su. Su is coming off a personal best in the mile with a time of 4:16.13 and will look to be in the mix. Max Grillo and Ian Paul have returned to the track at the right time as they will look to add to that depth.

The field events will be well-represented in all assets. Kartsonas will be coming back for the long and triple jump events as he will lead on that side as well. First year Julius Kimbrough had quite the meet last week as he jumped 6.84 meters at Case Western to place himself in the top five in the long jump. Other athletes including Jordon Rodman, Jeremy Frazao, and Joe Weatherspoon Jr. will look to gather points in those jumping events to help propel the Blue Streaks to new heights.

In the throws, senior Matthew Russo will be searching for a big performance in the shot put and weight throw events, followed by sophomore Moose Frombach and first year Troy Buehner

Coach Daniel Tutskey, Director of Cross Country/Track & Field at John Carroll University is ready for the challenge heading into this year's conference meet and is looking forward to what the opportunity brings for the men.

"The team has come together over the course of the last month," mentioned Tutskey. "Our coaching staff has done an unbelievable job navigating a difficult January. Our athletes have really hit a groove over the past few weeks."

Tutskey also mentions how resilient the group has been through those challenging times and how they developed throughout the year. "Every late January, I find myself wondering if we'll be ready come championship season and I always tell our athletes that we'll be where we need to be when it matters most. I'm really excited to see our athletes perform this coming weekend."

On Friday, February 28th, the action will begin as field events will kick off at 12:00 PM, followed by the running events at 4:30 PM. On Saturday, March 1st, the field events will start at 10:00 AM with the running events beginning at 2:30 PM.
