Men's Lacrosse Drops Non-Conference Finale to Grove City

The Blue Streaks dropped the first game of the season at Shula Stadium

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – The final game of non-conference play did not go the way John Carroll Men's Lacrosse wanted.Ā

The Blue Streaks partook in their first battle of the season at Don Shula Stadium against the Grove City Wolverines, dropping an 18-6 loss.

An early JCU goal just 1:09 into the game by Casey LaForce, assisted by Aidan Dugan, started the scoring. After a hard battle, Grove City responded with a goal by Rigdon Greene. Shortly after, they had another goal enter the net by Zachary Hougan.Ā

Following Grove City's two goals, John Carroll's Larry Voss found the back of the net to tie the game. Grove City fired back with a goal by Jason Muench, with an assist by Luke Jayne. In correspondence with that, Grove City had three impressive goals enter the net. The first and third goals were scored by Matt Blythe, assisted by Tyson Bui. The second goal was fired off by Tyson Bui, assisted by Matt Blythe.Ā

At the conclusion of the first quarter, the Blue Streaks trailed the Wolverines, 6-2.Ā

After a 3-goal run by the visitors, the Blue Streaks responded with a goal by the Hamburg, New York native Larry Voss. Don Shula Stadium lit up brightly as Grove City led 9-3 over John Carroll at the end of the first half.Ā

A hat trick from Larry Voss made the score 11-4 after two Grove City goals with 6 minutes left in the third quarter. The Wolverines continued to pour it on, leading 15-4 after three.Ā

The Wolverines finished off the win, thanks in part to strong results in the faceoffs department, along with clear advantages in shots and groundballs.

Larry Voss finished with a team-best 3 goals on the night.
