Women's Tennis Snags Second Win in South Carolina, Besting Lebanon Valley College

All 3 of John Carroll's wins have been of the sweep variety this season

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – After rain washed out John Carroll's Tuesday match vs. Tiffin University and Wednesday's match vs. Bridgewater College, JCU returned to action on Thursday.

John Carroll Women's Tennis took advantage of the chance to finally play, rolling past Lebanon Valley College, 7-0.

With the win, the Blue Streaks stand at 3-1 in the young season.

The top two doubles contests were close calls, but JCU pulled through. Evelyn Deren and Maddie Kavenagh worked together at the top slot, squeezing a 6-4 win. Felicity Kolb and Emma Smith formed a nice duo at #2, earning a 6-3 victory. Caroline Chandler and Madi Davila combined for a strong senior-first year duo at #3 doubles in a dominant 6-0 conquest.

Kavenagh continued a strong start to her season, firing up a close 6-4, 6-4 W atop the lineup. Deren is settling in nicely to the #2 spot, as evidenced by a 6-1, 6-2 win. Kolb split sets, 3-6, 6-3, setting up a tiebreaker. The junior then took care of business, 10-3, to wrap up #3 singles for JCU.

Davila snagged a strong win at #4, 6-4, 6-2. Smith shot out to a 6-0 start and finished it off with a 6-3 win in the second set at #5. Chandler completed the team sweep, earning a 6-3, 6-1 victory.
