Glossa provided key hits to power JCU to a sweep of Marietta

WESTERVILLE – A historic sweep means a high honor for one of John Carroll Baseball's stars.

For the first time since April 2023, the Blue Streaks can claim the Ohio Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week.

Ethan Glossa is JCU's first OAC Hitter of the Week since Joe Olsavsky on April 10, 2023. Good company indeed.

The Oak Park, Illinois native did bigtime damage as the designated hitter in both games vs. Marietta last Friday. The junior played a critical role at the dish, helping the Blue Streaks to sweep the Etta Express for the first time in program history.

Glossa provided a push late in the opening game to spark a comeback. In the seventh inning, Glossa powered an RBI double. And then in the eighth, the power hitter smacked a 3-run homer over the fence in right field to bring John Carroll within one run. In the second game, Glossa knocked in two runs to help JCU fire past Marietta, 9-4.

For the series, Glossa's statline was impressive: 4-for-9, 2 runs, 6 RBIs, 2 stolen bases. Without a doubt, the star showed out in the massive home sweep at Schweickert Field.

For the season, Glossa is amongst the conference's best hitters. The Finance major is tops in the OAC in runs batted in (44), second in stolen bases (23), and third in batting average (.395).

Glossa and the Blue Streaks will hope to keep the momentum rolling this week entering the "fourth quarter" of the campaign. JCU hosts Ohio Wesleyan at Schweickert Field for Senior Day and the Morgan's Message Game at 4 pm on Tuesday.
