Men's Golf Concludes Great NCAA Tournament

| By:
Penfield, N.Y. – Round four of the NCAA Championship concluded and the John Carroll men's golf team finished in 15th place, the team's best finish since 1997.

Head coach Jeff Pawlowski said after the tournament, "On day one we did a great job of positioning ourselves to make the cut." Pawlowski continued, "Day two was without our most difficult round, but I am proud of the guys to push through and make the cut."

In regards to round three and four coach Pawlowski said, "I could not be more proud of our team, playing 34 holes of golf in one day is extremely difficult. It truly shows the heart and character of the team to play our best golf over the final 18 holes."

The majority of the fourth round took place on Thursday and was called early due to darkness, as the weather on Friday was far from ideal which included a delay in starting the round.

Daniel Donahue led JCU with his best round of the tournament, which included five birdies. The sophomore was dialed in shooting under par on both nine's and a final round of 68, including a birdie on the final hole of the tournament and finished T20 overall.

Austin Malley started the tournament off strong, was consistent throughout, and ended strong by recording three birdies on the final four holes. Malley finished the tournament shooting +13.

In his final round Michael Keefe started the front nine with a birdie, however the junior would bogey a few holes and shoot +4. On the back nine Keefe was dialed in recording six-straight pars before birdieing the seventh hole.

Kamden Mowry had a strong showing with a birdie on the 10th and 17th hole, as the Ashland native shot an even 36 on the front nine. Mowry finished the tournament shooting +21.

Lastly, London Hoyser had an impressive birdie on the 218-yard par three eighteenth hole.  Hoyser finished the tournament shooting +24.

Next season the young JCU squad will join the NCAC, coach Pawlowski said "The core of this team is the sophomore class and with the addition of Michael Keefe we can truly go 5-7 golfers deep and anyone can be the number one on any given day which gives us a massive advantage." Pawlowski finished with, "Heading into next season we are going to learn from this tournament, we are going to enjoy the highs and learn from the lows. The future is extremely bright and I could not be more proud of our team."
