John Carroll Athletics Announces Expanded Partnership with RESN

| By:

Rock Entertainment Sports Network will broadcast 20 JCU games live this fall

CLEVELAND – The one-of-a-kind partnership between John Carroll Athletics and Rock Entertainment Sports Network (RESN) is set to expand this fall.

JCU and RESN have agreed to an expanded partnership, with 20 Blue Streak games to air live on cable and over-the-air television on RESN in the fall.

A year ago, RESN aired John Carroll tape-delayed football and basketball games. This fall, RESN will broadcast JCU Football, Men's Soccer, Women's Soccer, and Volleyball games.

"We are very excited to continue our partnership with RESN," said Vice President for Athletics and National Engagement Brian Polian '97. "The chance to feature our student-athletes and the outstanding tradition of John Carroll Athletics on RESN is a wonderful opportunity. Sports fans throughout Ohio will be able to follow our fall sports teams while learning more about our great university and the young people who represent it."

John Carroll is the only university in the state of Ohio to feature live games on RESN this fall.

RESN is available on Spectrum across Northeast Ohio on Channel 979 in addition to free over-the-air access on channel 22.1 all across the state of Ohio. RESN reaches over 235,000 households across Northeast Ohio and over 1.35 million households in the state of Ohio.

"We are proud to partner with John Carroll University to bring the Blue Streaks into homes across Ohio," said Nicholas Hasenecz, Interim General Manager at Gray Local Media, Inc. "These student-athletes represent what is great about college athletics, and I cannot wait to watch them in action on RESN starting September 3rd!"

John Carroll Athletics will continue to live stream all games for free on JCUSports.com/live, including games aired live on RESN. The Blue Gold Club's support helps ensure the live streams on JCUSports.com remain free.

The broadcast production will be almost completely staffed by students from the John Carroll Sports Information Department, with assistance from JCU Studios students. Dan Slentz and Jasen Sokol of the Tim Russert Department of Communication and freelance engineer Eric Simna '08 will provide guidance and technical expertise.

"We are proud to offer an amazing educational opportunity for our students to produce games for a quickly growing television network," said Sports Information Director Joe Ginley '16. "This is excellent news for our student-athletes and athletic programs, as very few Division III programs have TV partnerships. We are grateful to Dan, Jasen, and Eric, along with Lisa McManus and the RESN leadership for making this possible for our students."

John Carroll Athletics will have several TV advertisement spots available for purchase, along with in-game sponsorship opportunities on air. Interested companies can reach out to Joe Ginley at jginley@jcu.edu
