In Second Straight Dominant Home Effort, Women's Basketball Beats Wooster

Kaylie McKenney and the Blue Streaks fired up a 12-point run to start the second quarter and never looked back

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – During the two games at home so far this week, John Carroll Women's Basketball has hit 3-pointers aplenty, caused turnovers in bunches, and boxed out for rebounds at will.

That is a winning trifecta and it's no surprise that John Carroll won both by wide margins.

In a ninth straight win, JCU cruised past the College of Wooster, 88-46, at the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center.

John Carroll and Wooster played a relatively even first half. Ava Ryncarz and Graci Semptimphelter got going early, as Graci hit a jumper with 27 seconds left to set JCU ahead after the first quarter, 19-13.

A 12-point run to begin the second quarter firmly placed John Carroll in the driver's seat. A pair of Ryncarz triples powered the run, from which Wooster never recovered. Erin McCormick nailed a pair of 3-pointers as well, heating up. Bella Houillion and Katie Puletti both made triples to hammer it home, as JCU headed into the break ahead, 50-27.

Ryncarz stayed hot to start the third, as two makes from beyond the arch ensured that Wooster couldn't think of a comeback. While the Blue Streaks' bench getting opportunities, the lead continued to grow. Lily Stukus sank a pair of 3-pointers to conclude the third with JCU ahead, 79-34.

John Carroll rounded things out with ease in the fourth, firing up a victory to advance to 14-1 on the year.

Ava Ryncarz led all scorers with 24 points. Kaylie McKenney tabulated 12 points and Graci Semptimphelter tallied 11 points while adding 4 assists and 3 steals.

JCU scored 30 points in the paint and 30 points off turnovers, forcing 24 turnovers. JCU nailed 13-of-25 shots from 3-point range, while notching 16 assists.
