Tyren Montgomery Set to Represent JCU & Division III in America Bowl

Montgomery is the lone player from NCAA Division III in the game

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A star Blue Streak is set to take the national stage.

Following an overwhelming season in University Heights, Tyren Montgomery is all ready to go for the American Bowl on Thursday, January 22 at 8 pm on NFL Network.

JCU's star wideout will be competing on a field full of Division I talent looking to catch attention in front of NFL scouts. Montgomery will be wearing #3 for the Warhawks team, which will be wearing navy jerseys.

Montgomery set John Carroll single-season records for receptions with 119 and receiving yards with 1,528 (which ranked second in NCAA Division III). The Texan notched 15 touchdown catches, second only to his program-record 17 TDs in 2024.

He averaged an amazing 109.14 receiving yards per game and his 8.5 receptions per game rated seventh in D-III. Without a doubt, Montgomery cemented himself among the great receivers of all-time in John Carroll history.

Montgomery will look to producing at the America Bowl with NFL scouts in attendance and plenty of fans and NFLers watching from home. A myriad of NFL scouts came to see him in University Heights this fall.

Montgomery is looking to become John Carroll's first NFL Draft pick since 1991, when Larry Wanke stood proudly as Mr. Irrelevant, picked with the 334th pick of the 1991 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. Since then, London Fletcher '97 and Tom Arth '03 have both played in the NFL.

For another Carroll connection, Gabriella Kreuz '14 will be serving as the sideline reporter on the NFL Network broadcast. Kreuz and Montgomery caught up earlier this week.
