The Streaks Soar Past the Fighting Scots

A strong offensive performance leads to an important NCAC win for the Streaks.

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – What a day to be a Blue Streak.

The John Carroll campus was quiet as students headed home for fall break, but that didn't stop John Carroll Field Hockey from roaring past the Fighting Scots this afternoon.

John Carroll snagged the 4-1 victory over The College of Wooster. A huge win for the Streaks.

The Streaks came out hot as they opened up the afternoon. Just 5 minutes into the game, Kierra Maxie nailed one home and gave the Blue Streaks the early lead on the Fighting Scots.

The Streaks' momentum didn't stop there. A penalty corner f late in the first gave Carroll another opportunity. With help from Miako Dallas, Mia Curtis tipped the ball past Woosters' defense and into the back of the cage.

The Streaks now had the 2-0 advance on the Fighting Scots going into the second quarter.

As the second quarter began, the Streaks were unstoppable. Just 1 minute into the second quarter, Mary Wymard had a hard drive into the circle, allowing Francesca Rao to capitalize and give the Streaks the 3-0 lead.

Just 2 minutes later, Sophia Schultheis converted on a pass from Rao. Schultheis got the Streaks on the board yet again, granting them the 4-0 lead going into the half.

What a half for John Carroll. The Streaks managed to have 11 shots on goal, with 4 of them resulting in goals. Carroll held off the Fighting Scots the entirety of the first half, allowing them 0 chances to take a shot.

As the second half began, Wooster seemed to have found a spark.

A foul on Carroll led to an opportunity for the Fighting Scots. Wooster fired a powerful shot that sailed past the Carroll defense and found the back of the cage, cutting the deficit to 4-1.

Wooster managed to outshoot the Streaks in the third, 4 to 3.

The Streaks held off the Fighting Scots and possessed the ball for the remainder of the afternoon. A shot late in the game by Maddie Mormino found the back of the cage, but was unfortunately waved back.

John Carroll walked away with the 4-1 victory over Wooster. An exciting win for the Streaks.

This may have been one of Carroll's best showings yet this season. The Streaks were finally able to find a groove on offense. They had 20 shots and 11 penalty corners. Typically averaging 0.90 goals per game, Carroll delivered one of its strongest offensive performances this season, ending with 4 goals on the afternoon.
