Volleyball Sweeps Kenyon During Dig Pink Match

Mary Kate Sheehan and the hitters compiled a .361 attack percentage

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – As October winds down, John Carroll Volleyball is finding a groove.

The Blue Streaks have now won five of six matches and two straight North Coast Athletic Conference contests.

John Carroll dominated Kenyon College during a Dig Pink Match in three sets, 25-16, 25-13, 25-9.

A 5-0 run early helped the Blue Streaks leap to a 13-6 lead, aided by a pair of Natalie Glowe kills. A trio of service aces for Kenyon helped the visitors threaten to climb back into it. But strong play up front by Khloe Trivoli and Hailey Williams plus a pair of Olivia Mogyordy service aces slammed the door shut.

The start of the second set was sloppy for the hosts, as the Owls got out to a 9-7 lead. But with Williams at the service line, JCU flipped the script with a 6-point run. Kenyon mistakes and some strong kills by Mary Kate Sheehan helped the Blue Streaks run away with the set.

John Carroll left no doubt in the third set. The Blue Streaks dominated from the start, as once again, Williams' serving helped to power JCU to a big run, this time an 11-1 start. With a big lead, Head Coach Michele Benoit got the chance to dig deep into the bench, and the Blue Streaks didn't miss a beat, putting away the Owls with ease.

Glowe topped the team with 12 kills. Sheehan enjoyed an impressive day with 11 kills and 0 errors. Tess Murray did nice work with 22 assists. Mogyordy nabbed 14 digs.
