CLEVELAND – The first game of conference season determines the tone on how you want it to go. For the Blue Streaks, it was a strong win against the Wittenberg Tigers

Over the weekend, John Carroll Men's Soccer bested the Wittenberg Tigers, 3-1. After the early goal from the Tigers, John Carroll put their eyes on the prize, especially for Ryan Cvitkovic.

Cvitkovic is the North Coast Athletic Conference's Athlete of the Week for men's soccer.

Cvitkovic is in the midst of a stellar first year as a Blue Streak. The Chagrin Falls native has proved himself at practice to become a main man on offense.

Thanks to an extraordinary corner kick from Rafa De La Barrera, Cvitkovic was able to head the ball in for a John Carroll goal to tie the game early in the first half.

Later in the match, Cvitkovic put his defending footskills to good use. Traveling 30 yards up the sideline, Cvitkovic made a Tiger miss because of his speed and managed to find the low right corner for another goal to add to his tally on the season.

For the season, Cvitkovic has 3 goals on the season after his first collegiate brace.

Cvitkovic and the Blue Streaks continue their conference play, as JCU heads to Granville, Ohio to face Denison Wednesday, October 7.
