Luke Chicone Reins in NABC District Player of the Year & First Team All-District Awards

Chicone becomes JCU's first NABC District Player of the Year

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- As the playing season winds down, the award season heats up. And once again, Luke Chicone has garnered some attention.

For the second time in his illustrious career, Chicone's name will be found on the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III All-District 7 First Team. That is not the only district based honor he received, as the NABC has also named the standout point guard the District 7 Player of the Year.

After returning for a graduate year, Chicone posted career highs across the board. On his way to career peaks in points, assists, and steals, the Mentor legend broke the single season program record in each of those categories.

On top of the NABC awards, Luke has already taken home several other big time awards, being named the NCAC Player of the Year, NCAC Top Defender, NCAC Tournament MVP, and D3Hoops.com Region 7 Co-Player of the Year.

Chicone closed off his historical career by helping the Blue Streaks secure the NCAC tournament title and a victory in the NCAA Tournament Round of 64.

All season long the future Hall of Famer has been putting up elite stat lines, building his case for National Player of the Year.
