Softball Splits With Heidelberg In Non-Conference Matchup On The Road

TIFFIN, Ohio – The Blue Streaks were back on the road this afternoon for a non-conference matchup against the Student Princes of Heidelberg.

John Carroll lost game one by a final score of 3-6, but were able to earn the victory in the second game, only allowing one run with Jordan Bradford earning her first save of the 2026 season by a final score of 7-1.

Game 1

The Blue Streaks started off on a high note taking a commanding 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning of play. Contributions from both Izzy Coode and Melissa Smith sparked the offense for JCU as Coode earned an RBI double, followed by a home run from Smith.

Heidelberg responded with a few runs of their own to tie the game at three in the second inning on four hits.

That momentum continued for the Student Princes in the third inning as they would collect two runs from an RBI single. For good measure, Heidelberg added another run for good measure in the sixth. Meanwhile, the Blue Streaks couldn't find an answer despite getting a runner aboard in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings.

Game 2

In the second game of the day, JCU was able to get the bats going. The third inning was when JCU was able to capitalize on mistakes and earn opportunities.

With a total of eight errors recorded by the Student Princes, the Blue Streaks were able to capitalize and make the necessary plays.

Jordan Anderson was able to find the bag after a fielding error made by Heidelberg. Bella Hunter, Isa Crespo, and Elaina Rodriguez all made contributions by collecting RBIs to strengthen their lead.

Rodriguez continued to impress, adding on a couple of more RBIs in the fourth inning to take a commanding 6-0 lead and build upon their offense.

The Blue Streaks gained a 4-0 lead after three innings with Heidelberg not being able to answer.

Emily Graves tallied the win, moving to 5-2 on the year and playing a key role in their performance in the second game.
