Baseball Swept at Schweickert Field by Wittenberg

The Tigers rolled the Blue Streaks in dominant fashion

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – The successful streak at Schweickert Field for John Carroll Baseball came to a close on Friday afternoon, ending a 9-game winning streak at home.

The Wittenberg Tigers, ranked #20 in the latest ABCA Top 25 rankings, dealt the Blue Streaks two decisive defeats.

John Carroll dropped the opener, 15-2, and faltered in the second game, SCORE HERE.

Game 1
The Tigers scored early to set the tone in the opener, plating three runs in the first frame. Wittenberg scored four more in the fourth, as things got out of hand quickly.

Konner Hauck got a run back with a triple in the fourth, but the Blue Streak bats were quiet until the eighth when Chris Bach blasted a no-doubter homer over the wall in left field.

But that was all the Blue Streaks could muster, and the pitching could not contain a powerful Tigers lineup.

Game 2
Once again in the second game, the Tigers roared to start. Wittenberg burst out for 6 runs in the opening frame, stunning the Streaks.

The theme of the game for the bats was short spurts of success. JCU left runners aboard in the first six innings, including runners on the corners in the fifth.

But the Blue Streaks broke through in the seventh. Brett Krugman brought home JCU's first two runs with a 2-run groundrule double to left field. George Haracz then tabbed a sacrifice fly to plate the third run of the inning.

Next Up
The Blue Streaks will head to Westerville to do battle with Otterbein University in non-conference action on Sunday starting at 1 pm.
