Men's Tennis Picks Up Important Victory at Wittenberg

John Carroll rolled past the Tigers on the road

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – In the first of two crucial North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament matches this weekend, the Blue Streaks got the job done.

John Carroll Men's Tennis swept Wittenberg University, 7-0, easing past the Tigers on the road.

The win propels JCU to 2-5 in conference play with one more match remaining, still in contention for a spot in the NCAC Tournament.

The Blue Streaks opened by winning two of three doubles matches vs. the Tigers. JCU notched a 6-1 conquest at the #2 slot and won the #3 spot via forfeit to take the team doubles point. 

Jean Davin cruised atop the singles lineup with a nice 6-0, 6-3 conquest. Anthony Markello followed suit with a crisp 6-1, 6-2 conquest. Phillip Gorun also did his job at #3 singles.

Nathan Tam flew by his foe at #4 singles, 6-0, 6-1. JCU accepted forfeit wins at #5 and #6 singles. 

With the victory, JCU advances to 6-7 on the season, having won two of three contests. 

Next Up
John Carroll will wrap up the regular season on Sunday, facing off against Wabash College with an NCAC berth on the line.
