Season Ends with Wabash Loss for Men's Tennis

The Blue Streaks fought hard but the Little Giants emerged with the win and NCAC Tournament spot

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – The first campaign as a member of the North Coast Athletic Conference ended in Indiana on Sunday for John Carroll Men's Tennis.

The Blue Streaks lost the final conference match of the season at Wabash College, thus eliminating the team from tournament contention.

The Little Giants handed JCU a 6-1 defeat at the Collett Tennis Center.

John Carroll, in the first season under Head Coach Torrey McNeal, battled late in the year, winning a pair of important conference matches in the final few weeks. But a defeat to Wabash, which becomes the #5 seed in the tournament, ended JCU's season early with a 2-6 conference mark.

Dropping two of three doubles matches, and thus losing the team doubles point, placed the Blue Streaks behind the eight-ball. Dylan Murlin and Cavan Boutillette deserve praise for pulling off a 7-5 win at No. 3 doubles, though.

Jean Davin concluded an excellent season atop the JCU lineup. The Paris, France native dropped the opening set, 3-6, before getting revenge in the second set. In the third and deciding set, Davin came out victorious with a 6-4 conquest.

In his final collegiate match, Anthony Markello fought hard, but his foe at #2 singles got a 6-3, 6-3 victory.

Nathan Tam kept it close at #4 singles with a 3-6, 2-6 loss. Dylan Murlin recovered from a first-set loss to only lose 5-7 in the second.

JCU finishes the campaign with a 6-8 record.
