Women's Golf Nabs Fifth at Mount Union Spring Invitational

The action marked the first spring competition in Northeast Ohio for the squad

ALLIANCE – On a beautiful spring Friday, John Carroll Women's Golf competed in Northeast Ohio for the first time this spring.

The Blue Streaks performed solidly at the Mount Union Spring Invitational at Tannehauf Golf Club in Alliance. The JCU "A" Team finished fifth with a team score of 336 and the "B" Team notched seventh place with a mark of 366 in an 8-team field.

Results

As per usual, Julia Gulla led the way for the Blue Streaks.

The first year from Sagamore Hills anchored the team with a stout second-place effort. The Nordonia alum carded a 75 (+3), just one stroke off the medalist, Dakota Riley of first-place Ashland. 


Meredith Thompson stood as the second-best finisher for John Carroll. The Erie native tallied an 85, good for 17th place. Hannah Prince carded an 87, registering a tie for 19th place and a spot in the top half of the field.

Alexandra Yaeger rounded out the scores for the "A" squad with a mark of 89. Kyah Huckleberry tabbed a 93 as the fifth woman on the team.

Lauren Roof guided the "B" squad, firing up an 88 to tie for 23rd. 

Erin McCaffrey (92), Irena Steffas (93), and Amanda Millis (93) all finished in a cluster behind Roof. Madison Maxwell (100) completed the team.

John Carroll will be back in action after Easter break, heading to New Castle, Pennsylvania on Saturday, April 11 for the Westminster Invitational.
