UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – A decade-long era of John Carroll Men's Lacrosse is coming to an end.

On Monday, Joe Rautenstrauch '23G announced his resignation as head coach of the JCU Men's Lacrosse program. Rautenstrauch is leaving coaching to pursue endeavors outside of college athletics.

"I would like to thank Joe for all that he has done for John Carroll University and our men's lacrosse program," said Vice President of Athletics Brian Polian '97. "He leaves a proven track record on the field and a legacy of service to the young men he coached.  Joe was also a great teammate within the department, serving as a trusted colleague and friend to everyone that worked alongside him.  I wish Joe nothing but the best as he enters this next phase of his life."

Rautenstrauch oversaw a 10-year stretch filled with success for the Blue Streaks. Namely, JCU Men's Lacrosse won 7 Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament Championships and 3 OAC Regular Season Championships. JCU notched a 15-1 record in conference tournaments under his watch. The Blue Streaks made 7 NCAA Tournament appearances during his tenure.

A two-time OAC Coach of the Year, Rautenstrauch concludes his time at JCU with an overall record of 111-47 (.703), tied for 17th among active NCAA Division III men's lacrosse coaches. Rautenstrauch departs as the winningest and longest-tenured coach in the program's history. He tallied a winning percentage of .813 in conference play.

Rautenstrauch coached 6 USILA All-Americans, 4 USA Lacrosse Magazine All-Americans, and 79 all-conference honorees. He earned his MBA from JCU in 2023.

A national search for the next leader of John Carroll Men's Lacrosse will begin immediately.
