The Blue Streaks notched the best round of the event on Friday

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – John Carroll Men's Golf saved the best for last.

The Blue Streaks carded the best score of the tournament in Round 4 of the NCAA Division III Championships at Mission Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.

For the third time in four rounds, the Clevelanders took on El Campeon, a par-72 course coming at 6,678 yards. JCU started on the No. 10 hole and got off on the right foot, as two of three golfers netted birdies.

"Overall, the team had a successful week. Golf is a game of highs and lows and the guys did a good job of managing those," Pawlowski said. "To a man, they would say this was not their best week. However, I believe the past 4 weeks have shown what we can accomplish as a group when we work together and rely on our strengths as a team. Back to back trips to the National Championship, both times making the cut, is an accomplishment they should be very proud of."

Daniel Donahue guided the team effort on Friday afternoon. The Pittsburgh native enjoyed a strong start by hitting par on seven holes on the front nine, plus a birdie on No. 16 to head into the home stretch even. The junior began and ended the back nine with birdies, including a nice 3 on the No. 9 hole. Donahue marked down an even 72 for the day, finishing the week at +9 to tie for 55th.

Justy VonLehmden kicked off the final day with a birdie on the mammoth 540-yard No. 10. Like Donahue, Justy knocked home a birdie on No. 16, taking a two-over-par into the final nine. Birdies on two of his first three holes got the Findlay native going, and a nice bird on No. 9 concluded his round at one-over-par (73). He stood as JCU's highest individual finisher in a tie for 33rd.

Austin Malley fired up a masterful eagle early in the day on the par-5 No. 14 hole, which helped him gear up for his best day yet. The Venetia, Pennsylvania native headed into the back nine at one-under-par thanks to a birdie on No. 17. A stretch of par holes and a birdie on No. 7 helped him to finish strong with a two-over-par score of 74. Malley ended the weekend in a tie for 81st.

London Hoyser roared in the early going, with birdies on No. 13 and 14, plus another on No. 18 to head into the turn at one-under-par. Some bogeys late couldn't spoil his day, as a birdie on No. 4 helped him finish at three-over-par for the round. Hoyser's final round of 75 helped him tie for 87th.

Wade Boyle rounded out the crew for JCU on Friday. The Greensburg, Pennsylvania native carded three birdies to highlight his effort, as he finished with an 81 (+9) and 89th overall.

With all five golfers from this weekend returning, the future is plenty bright for the Blue Streaks.

"We are grateful for the volunteer work that Derek Smith and Anthony Krakowiak have put in this season," said Pawlowski. "Without their help, our program does not attain this level of success."
