Men’s Track & Field In First Place After Day One Of NCAC Outdoor Championships

GAMBIER, Ohio – You couldn't have asked for a better start for the Blue Streaks this afternoon. 

The men's track & field team kicked off their postseason today at the 2026 NCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted at Kenyon College. 

They would go on to collect 47 points and be the leader after the first day of competition. 

With one stellar performance after another, the momentum kept rolling and JCU will head into day two with more poise and excitement.

Here are the athletes who have scored for the team and have advanced through the preliminary rounds to tomorrow's finals:

The men's 10000 meter run would get the day started for the Blue Streaks. Nate Julien (32:42.59), Phil Coury (32:46.14), and Chuck Reigrut (33:07.47) scored a combined 11 points to start off on a high note. 

In the field events, the duo of Jordon Rodman (6.96 meters) and Julius Kimbrough (6.96 meters) started the day off strong as well, finishing both second and third overall in the long jump.
Another duo that shined for the men's program this afternoon was Ben Herczog and Zach Shackelford in the javelin throw. Herczog (50.02 meters) placed third overall, while Shackelford (48.25 meters) placed fourth. 

Back to the track events, the performances kept getting more and more impressive. 

First year Carson Harrod broke the 110 meter hurdles school record with a time of 14.61 seconds to advance to tomorrow's final in the event. The previous school record of 14.62 stood since 1991. 

Tony Tirado helped in two events, claiming spots in the finals of the 110 and 400 meter hurdles. 

Three Blue Streaks will represent in the 400 meter dash final as Basheer Alramahi (49.15), Jack Arnold (49.49), and Tyler Gast (49.77) have earned their spots. 

In the 800 meter preliminary rounds, Chris Whiting (1:55.83) and Ebrahim Alzraqat (1:56.60) competed well and put themselves in position to score some major points for the team, moving on to day two. 

With the last event of the day, in the 3000 meter steeplechase, sophomore Charlie Payne led the way for JCU, claiming a runner-up finish with a time of 9:23.30. Joey Naiman finished right behind with a time of 9:36.91 to score three points.

The Blue Streaks will return tomorrow for day two of the 2026
NCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted at Kenyon College. Field events are set to begin at 10:00am, followed by the track events starting at 2:30pm.
