With only collecting two individual champions throughout the weekend, this group showed resiliency and relied on their strength in numbers, fighting t for every single position until the end.

Once the 4x400 meter relay finished third overall, it was nothing, but excitement and pure joy from the coaching staff and the whole team.

The second day of competition started off on a high note, just like Friday.

Sophomore Julius Kimbrough earned his second consecutive high jump championship with a mark of 2.02 meters (6' 7.5"), followed by both Jordon Rodman (1.90 meters) and Jeremy Frazao (1.85 meters) who earned fourth and fifth overall.

After coming in ranked fifth in the men's shot put, Cole Mayer stepped up huge for the Blue Streaks and earned his first All-NCAC accolade with a second place finish. He threw a mark of 15.01 meters (49' 3").

Another sophomore who continued his dominance was Sam Su. He earned his second consecutive individual title in the men's 1500 meter run with a time of 3:57.69. Chris Whiting (4:02.19) and Charlie Payne (4:04.56) earned crucial points placing fourth and sixth overall for the team.

Senior Tyler Gast had an incredible day, earning top three finishes in both the 400 and 200 meter dash races.

Tony Tirado was able to represent JCU in two hurdling events and managed to score some major points for the group throughout the day. He earned All-NCAC in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 54.61, placing third overall.

In the men's 5000 meter run, Sam Su doubled back and maintained throughout the race to earn second overall with a time of 14:49.61, which was a huge personal best for the Woodridge native.

Lastly, the team of Jack Arnold, Tim Herczog, Brody Hanlon, and Basheer Alramahi put the exclamation point on the day and placed third overall in the men's 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:17.68.

After officially securing the title, Coach Daniel Tutskey took a minute to walk around the field and embrace the moment of finally reaching the goal.

"Winning a team championship is really difficult," mentioned Tutskey. "I challenged our men's team after the indoor championships and set an expectation on what needed to be done to be successful and they responded. They showed heart, resilience, and belief in each other."

Coach Tutskey also talks about the way the men approached the outdoor season and how it was a different experience going into practices, meets, etc.

"The outdoor season had a different feeling," said Tutskey. "I didn't know exactly what it was until a week earlier when I walked in their locker room. I had put score sheets all over the locker room as a constant reminder of the indoor championship. That day, there was only one sheet left. It was flipped over and someone wrote "BELIEVE" on it. We finished off the meet with an all senior 4x4 anchored by Basheer. To have those guys out there was a perfect way to finish the meet. Basheer was the perfect person to cap off a historic achievement."

It was only fitting that a group of seniors finished the job for the Blue Streaks to cement a championship performance that will last for a lifetime in the history of John Carroll Track & Field.

The team will finally bring a conference championship back to University Heights and regroup for the rest of the outdoor season these next few weeks.
