Troy Mrukowski Selected for AFCA Allstate Good Works Team

Mrukowski marks JCU's third honoree in three years

CHICAGO – John Carroll Football will have a student-athlete represented on the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team for a third consecutive year. 

Troy Mrukowski becomes the fourth member from John Carroll University to be recognized for the award, following Owen Schuckert, who represented JCU on the 2025 team.

On Tuesday, September 15, Allstate and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) announced the 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. Mrukowski is one of 11 honorees from FCS, Division II, Division III and the NAIA. 

Mrukowski becomes the second offensive lineman to garner the award for JCU, joining Matt Wrather, who was named on the team in 2024. 

"I am very proud of Troy, he sets an incredible example of how to be a servant-leader," said Head Coach and Vice President of Athletics Brian Polian '97. "To have a member on the AFCA Good Works Team three years in a row is a great honor for our program. This speaks to our Jesuit identity and who we are as a University. Service plays a big part in our program, as we are here to serve the community in as many ways as possible."

Throughout Troy's time at JCU, he has been a part of many different service organizations. 

At John Carroll, for three years, he was a Jesuit Day of Service Core team member and was a NMDP student ambassador. He also volunteered in helping with "Build The Bridge" and the "Carroll Ballers."

Outside of school, he became a volunteer coach for Olentangy Liberty High School Football team last summer and is currently working with Gilmour Academy as a volunteer coach. 

Being selected to the AFCA Allstate good works team is such an honor," said Mrukowski. "I am so grateful for all the amazing people that have paved the way for me to be here in this moment. It is such a blessing and honor to represent JCU football on this stage. This place has given me so much, this place has helped develop my faith, taught me what it looks like to be a man and how to put others before myself. Being able to represent such an amazing place is so humbling."
He was also involved in working with the "Tim Tebow's Night to Shine" event and helped with the "Quinshon Judkins Youth Football Camp."

Troy's involvement inside and outside of JCU has left a remarkable impact on the JCU community and the program as a whole. 

"I strive to live by Mark 10:45, 'For even the son of man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.' I would also like to thank my parents for instilling the morals of my life to me at a young age," said Mrukowski. "Lastly, I would like to thank my coaches, teammates, and John Carroll University for continuing to believe in me and support me."

About the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team
The Allstate AFCA Good Works Team was established in 1992 by the College Football Association, recognizing the extra efforts made by college football players and student support staff off the field. AFCA became the governing body of the award in 1997 and continues to honor college football players who go the extra mile for those in need. Allstate worked to present the award starting with the 2008 season.
