Volleyball Stumbles at Ohio Wesleyan in 3-Set Defeat

The Blue Streaks struggled in the NCAC opener

DELAWARE – On the road to begin North Coast Athletic Conference play, John Carroll Volleyball experienced a disappointing loss.

In the first conference match of the 2026 season, the Blue Streaks lost a 3-setter at Ohio Wesleyan University in a tough result.

The Battling Bishops cruised to a 25-21, 25-18, 25-13 decision.

The hosts got things started on a good note with a 5-2 run near the midpoint of the set. JCU got back into it with a 6-point run to draw within 18-17, thanks to a pair of Olivia Mogyordy service aces. JCU then drew even at 21-all, but the Battling Bishops scored the final four points.

The teams played closely in the second set for starters. A 4-point run for OWU to get up to a 15-10 lead threatened to change the dynamic of the match. JCU responded and slimmed the lead, but a 4-1 OWU stint helped the Battling Bishops put it out of reach.

The third set began close with a 9-9 tie. But then the Battling Bishops ripped out the hearts of the Streaks with an unreal 15-0 run.

JCU struggled up front with a .158 hitting percentage and racked up 9 service errors. Grace Jones stood as the top player up front with 7 kills against just 1 error. Tess Murray tabbed 14 assists. Natalie Glowe led the team with 14 digs.
