John Carroll was hoping to show the type of effort it displayed two weeks prior in a 57-51 triple overtime loss to defending Division III champion Mount Union. But it was unheralded B-W quarterback Kenny Leonard who stole the show. JCU had trailed 23-7 entering the fourth quarter, but had rallied to make the score 23-20. With his team facing third-and-nine from its own 21, and clinging to a slim lead with less than two minutes remaining, Leonard threw the pass of his life, hitting Jeremy Caldwell in stride for a 79-yard touchdown pass that sealed the victory.
