Ryan Nordquist enters his third year as a member of the John Carroll University baseball staff in 2018-19. He serves as the program’s recruiting coordinator while coaching hitters, catchers, and baserunners. Nordquist also helps oversee the team’s academic success program.
2018
In year two as the Blue Streak hitting coach, John Carroll posted a .316 team AVG while setting program records for stolen bases in a season (96), runs in a game (24), home runs in a game (7).
The Blue Streak offense was led by five All-OAC selections: Monroe Donnelly, Pat Keohane, Dom Mittiga, Derek Penman, and Aaron Zawadzki. Other accolades in 2018 included Keohane and Mittiga who were each selected to D3baseball.com & ABCA/Rawlings All-Mideast Region teams.
Aside from their success between the lines, the 2018 Blue Streak baseball team also had five selected as Academic All-OAC student-athletes: Steve Virost, Derek Penman, Joe Charpentier, Tyler Jamieson, and Eli Moore.
2017
In his first season as the Blue Streak hitting coach, John Carroll led the Ohio Athletic Conference in runs, hits, doubles, triples, RBI, batting average, and on base percentage. A lineup that included three 1st Team All OAC hitters Pat Keohane, Dom Mittiga, as well as Monroe Donnelly who was also recognized as an ABCA/Rawlings All-American.
Other season accolades included four members selected to the Academic All-OAC team: Mike Raschilla, Joe Franke, Steve Virost, and Derek Penman.

Playing Career
Nordquist is a 2012 graduate of Baldwin Wallace University he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sport Management.
As a student-athlete, he played three seasons at Baldwin Wallace, where he helped lead the Yellow Jackets to a then program-best 27 wins in 2012. Behind the plate, he posted a .988 career fielding average. This ranks him first among catchers in BW baseball history for career fielding percentage. In his senior season, Nordquist posted a 1.000 fielding percentage and became just the fifth catcher in program history to accomplish that feat.
Personal
Born and raised in Alliance, Ohio, Nordquist is a 2007 graduate of Alliance High School and was a standout athlete on the diamond. A three-year captain, he was named first-team All-Northeastern Buckeye Conference, first team All-Northeast Ohio District, and was named Alliance High School's first ever NBC Player of The Year in 2006. In his junior season, Ryan led the Aviators to a record-breaking season and program-best 24 wins en route to its first District title and OHSAA Regional berth. Nordquist currently holds program records for triples in a single-season (nine) and career (15).
Nordquist began his coaching career at age 19 (2009) as an assistant coach of the Alliance American Legion Post 166. During that time, he led Post 166 to three 30 win seasons, two Region 7 Championships, and two state championship appearances.
