Cody Edwards begins his first year as member of the John Carroll staff. His duties will include assistant secondary coach as well as defensive quality control coach.

Prior to arriving at JCU, Edwards was a video intern at the University of Tennessee. While at UT, Edwards helped to oversee the second largest football video production staff in the country. He worked closely with coaches on game and practice cut-ups, drill and clinic tape production, and data entry.

Edwards was also the video liaison for all professional scouts, recruiting, and the Vol For Life (VFL) program.

Before making his way to Knoxville, Edwards had a short stint as an assistant football and track coach at Pinecrest High School in Southern Pines, NC. Edwards spent the 2011 football season on the staff at Emory and Henry College in Emory, Virginia. He was a defensive intern working with the defensive line and the video coordinator for the Wasps. Edwards helped to produce two All-ODAC selections during that season. He began his collegiate coaching career as a volunteer assistant at E&H working with the defensive backs in the spring of 2011.

Before his collegiate coaching career began, Edwards was the defensive backs and wide receivers coach at Coeburn High School in Coeburn, Virginia. He helped the Blue Knights win their first conference championship in school history, and as the head coach and offensive coordinator, lead the junior varsity squad to a 7-2 season record.

A native of Haysi, Virginia, Edwards graduated in May 2010 with a degree in Business Administration from The University of Virginia’s College of Wise, where he was a member of the football team as a wide receiver.
