Jonathan Cooley

Jonathan Cooley is beginning his second year as a graduate assistant coach with the John Carroll University football team. He will be assistant coaching the secondary this season for the Blue Streaks as a graduate assistant.

Cooley graduated from John Carroll University with a finance degree in 2011. He was a four-year letterwinner and a three-year starter, finishing in the top ten all time in career pass-breakups at JCU. Cooley was also a four-year Unity Council Member while playing for the Blue Streaks.

In 2013, Cooley mentored Randy Greenwood who made the switch from running back to defensive back. Greenwood went on to earn D3football.com All-American honors and earned a undrafted rookie minicamp tryout with the San Diego Chargers.

Prior to returning to his alma mater, Cooley coached safeties and was the equipment manager for Bluffton University in 2012. He helped the Beavers to a 6-4 record while coaching first-team All-HCAC safety (Justin Hahn). Cooley coached defensive backs and was the assistant special teams coordinator for Millikin University in 2011.

He will pursue his Master’s in Business Administration while living in Cleveland, Ohio.
