David Pfundstein

David Pfundstein enters his first season as an assistant coach on the men's basketball staff. Pfundstein spent 20 years (1998-2018) at the helm of the varsity boys basketball team at Gilmour Academy after a brief stint as a varsity assistant at Mayfield High School.
 
Pfundstein is a graduate from the Class of 1997 from John Carroll University. He was a three-year starter and two-year team captain on the men's basketball team from 1994-97. He set the program’s season and all-time assist records during his career at JCU. Such achievements led to his induction into the University’s Hall of Fame in 2009. He still ranks second all-time in career assists (454), third all-time in assists per game (4.3) and minutes played (2,939), and seventh all-time in steals (143), 
 
Pfundstein has a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in school counseling. He is a member of the Greater Cleveland Basketball Coaches Association.  The Solon, Ohio, native is employed by Gilmour Academy as the dean of student life. He currently resides in Mayfield Heights, Ohio, with his wife of 15 years, Kimberly, and their two children, David (13) and Morgan (11), who are in seventh grade and fifth grade at Gilmour Academy, respectively.
