- Started his sophomore debut off strong, racing an 8k time of 26:49.4 during the MSU Spartan Invitational to best 151 total runners in the field (09/16/2022)
2021 Cross Country
- Made his season debut at the Sudeck Classic finishing 5th with a time of 19:47.1. (09/02)
- Root placed 261st amongst 357 overall runners in the gold division of the Paul Short Invitational with a time of 25:52.2. (10/1)
- Finished 245th amongst 306 overall runners in the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble with a time of 30:10.6 (10/16)
