Bryce Basista begins his 11th year as volunteer assistant with the John Carroll University cross country and track & field programs in the 2024-25 school year. In addition to his duties with cross country, he specializes his role in track & field by coaching and mentoring the javelin and distance athletes.

During his time with the Blue Streaks, John Carroll has achieved program best finishes at the National Championships in men's cross country (4th in 2022 & 2021), women's cross country (19th in 2022), men's indoor track & field (5th in 2024) and men's outdoor track & field (2nd in 2022). John Carroll finished top-3 in the USTFCCCA Al Carius Porgram of the Year standings in consecutive years (3rd in 2023, 2nd in 2022). 

Basista has built a strong javelin program that includes the following achievements:
  • Gage Marek - All-OAC (2015)
  • R Lilly - Two-time All-OAC (2015 and 2018)
  • Nicole Pilewski - Three-time All-OAC (2016, 2017, and 2018), OAC champion (2017), and school record holder in javelin with a mark of 131'1"
  • Leah Fritsch - All-OAC (2024)
A native of North Ridgeville, Ohio, Basista is a graduate of Elyria Catholic High School, University of Mount Union (Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Finance), and Cleveland State University (Master of Accountancy). 

Currently, Basista works full-time at NASA Glenn Research Center as a financial analyst and enrolled at Case Western University's Data Analytics Boot Camp.
