Jamie Dailey '22 enters his third year as an assistant coach with the cross country and track & field programs, along with his role as sports information coordinator, in 2025-26. Â
In his second season at John Carroll, Dailey helped to guide the Blue Streaks to repeat OAC crowns in men's and women's cross country in 2024. JCU finished 15th in the 2024-2025 Al Carius Program of the Year race. In his role in sports information, Dailey guided gameday coverage, assisted with development of the new fellowship program, and much more.Â
During his first year at John Carroll, Dailey played a key role in guiding the Blue Streaks to OAC Championships in men's and women's cross country in 2023. JCU finished eighth overall in the 2023-2024 Al Carius Program of the Year standings after tabbing a program-best fifth place finish at the 2024 Indoor Track & Field Championships. Impressively, the program tabbed five College Sports Communicators Academic All-Americans. Within sports information, Dailey spearheaded efforts with football media day, historical research, and development of the student workforce.Â
The Bay Village native competed for the Blue Streaks from 2018-22, Dailey finished as a 10-time All-OAC honoree, eight-time All-Region runner, four-time USTFCCCA Academic All-American, and six-time NCAA All-American. The highly-decorated runner received the 2022 Clyde Lamb Scholar-Athlete Award Recipient, given to the top male and female athletes in the OAC.
Dailey spent five years with the cross country team, and left a notable impact on the program. In his fifth year, he was crowned a 2021 NCAA Division III All-American for cross country, all while helping the Blue Streaks to capture the program’s first Ohio Athletic Conference Championship and a fourth-place effort at Nationals in 2021.Â
Dailey also enjoyed a great career in track & field for the Blue Streaks. He ended his senior year on a high note, snagging an All-OAC honor in indoor season before becoming an All-American in the 10,000m at the 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. His fifth year (thanks to the Covid blanket waiver) proved to be his best. During indoor season, Dailey won the 3000m OAC title and also captured OAC Athlete of the Week status along the way. At Nationals, he tabbed All-American finishes in both the 3k and the 5k. During outdoor season, he notched two All-OAC efforts at the OAC Championships. And then for his final act, Dailey not only claimed an All-American trophy in the 10k, but conquered the field in the 5k.
In one of the most dramatic finishes in JCU history, Dailey turned on the jets down the stretch in front of a roaring crowd at SPIRE to win the 5000m at the 2022 NCAA Championships.Â
After his fifth year at JCU, Dailey headed to the University of Cincinnati and joined their cross country team as a graduate student. While competing at UC, he was hired as an intern in Cincinnati’s Strategic Brand Engagement Department. He acquired his Master's from UC in August 2023.Â
