Missy Gedeon

Melissa (Missy) Gedeon enters her fifth season with JCU women's golf in the 2025-26 academic year, her fourth as head coach. She previously served as the assistant coach of the women's golf program in the 2021-22 school year. 

Gedeon has begun to build a strong program in University Heights. In her fourth season, the Blue Streaks notched a fifth-place finish at the 2025 OAC Championships. In her third season, the Blue Streaks finished fourth at the 2024 OAC Championships, the program's best finish since 2018. JCU also won its first program victory since 2011, finishing first at the Yellow Jacket Spring Invitational in April 2024. 

She was previously the women’s head golf coach at Hiram College from 2017-19. 

Gedeon is an accomplished golfer. Gedeon has competed in six United States Golf Association Championships representing northern Ohio and placing in multiple Ohio amateur events. She still competes in many local golf leagues and has recorded six hole-in-ones in her lifetime. As a collegian, Gedeon earned an athletic scholarship to play golf at the University of Michigan where she lettered in all four years. She graduated in 1987 with B.A. in economics.

Gedeon also earned an M.A. in Education from Notre Dame College in 2013 and graduated from Lake Catholic High School in Mentor in 1983.

Currently, Gedeon is the Marketing and Compliance Manager at Industrial Surface Sealer, Inc. located in Cleveland. She resides in nearby Hudson with her husband Carl and children Sara and Grant, who graduated from John Carroll in 2023.
