Eric Schuman is now in his third year of coaching with the John Carroll University swimming and diving program. It will be his first as an assistant coach after spending the previous two as a graduate assistant.
At Kalamazoo, Schuman’s senior individualized project focused on swimming and the benefits of video analysis. He built a cart to take simultaneous above and below water footage of swimmers at practice and was then able to analyze the techniques of the swimmers.
The 4-year letterman at Kalamazoo was a member of three conference championship teams. He was a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.
In high school, Schuman qualified for the state championship in the 100 breaststroke and was a member of two conference championship teams at Livonia Stevenson High School.
Schuman graduated from Kalamazoo College with a major in physics and a minor in mathematics. He will be pursuing an AYA Physics Master of Education degree at John Carroll.
