Lewis Fellinger

Lewis Fellinger enters his 31st season as the diving coach at John Carroll University in the 2025-26 school year, the longest current tenured assistant coach at JCU having been with the program since 1995-96.

Over the course of his career as a coach with John Carroll as well as neighboring Case Western Reserve University, Fellinger can take credit for eight NCAA national qualifiers, a total of 10 All-American awards and Stephanie Turner's national championship on the 3-meter board in 2000. He is also a five-time Ohio Athletic Conference Diving Coach of the Year (1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003).

In 2008, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024, Fellinger was part of John Carroll contingents that were named Coaching Staff of the Year in the OAC.

In 2025, Annie Meunier qualified for NCAA Regionals after setting program records and winning the OAC title in the 3M. She also earned OAC Diver of the Month honors.

In 2023, Catherine Steinwachs won OAC Diver of the Year honors for a third time in her career, becoming just the third such athlete in the conference to achieve the feat (NCAA Champion Stephanie Turner was one of the previous two).

In 2018, Fellinger led the OAC Divers of the Year in Ashley Cresap and Ryan McClelland. McClelland also earned All-Americans honors in his sophomore campaign.

In 2017, Fellinger helped freshman Ryan McClelland earn honorable mention All-America honors on the 1-meter board and qualify for the nationals on the 3-meter board.

In addition to the collegiate ranks, Fellinger is also involved with the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) and United States Diving. As the founder of North Coast Diving, Fellinger has guided 14 Junior national qualifiers and four Senior national qualifiers.

One of Fellinger's greatest honors was to serve as the Director of Athlete Services for the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia. More recently, he has served as the National Diving Coach for Uruguay in both 1998 and 1999, and coached an athlete in the 1999 Pan American Games.

Fellinger is a 1992 graduate of Babson College and was team captain and a national qualifier for the school's diving team. He was also an eight-time All-New England honoree.
