Frank Romano enters his fifth season as a volunteer assistant coach in 2024-25. Romano joined the Blue Streaks after spending 13 seasons at Notre Dame College, where he was the head coach of the program since its inaugural 2006-07 season.
Under Coach Romano, Notre Dame won four NCAA Division II National titles, four NAIA National Titles, and one NCWA National Title.
Prior to arriving at Notre Dame, Romano served as head coach at Kent State University from 1996-2003. While with the Golden Flashes, Romano coached three All-Americans, 64 national qualifiers and 44 Mid-American Conference (MAC) individual champions.
Romano’s first year with the Blue Streaks was his 50th year overall in coaching. In addition to being the head coach at Notre Dame and Kent State, he was an assistant at KSU and had stints at a number of high schools in Northeast Ohio.
Romano is a former wrestler at Maple Heights High School, where he won two Ohio State Championships. At Ohio State University, the two-year team captain was a three-time NCAA qualifier, and a two-time Big Ten place-winner.
Romano has a bachelor's degree in health and physical education from Ohio State and a master's degree in athletic administration from Kent State.
