The Blue Streak volleyball team put up a good fight against 12th ranked Ohio Northern, but their game two win wouldn't be enough to stop the powerhouse Polar Bears from winning their 15th consecutive match.

Despite a stellar game two in which JCU had 19 kills and just one error, Ohio Northern prevailed in four games tonight at the DeCarlo Varsity Center, 30-15, 26-30, 30-24, 30-17. 

The Polar Bears took the first game with ease, out playing John Carroll offensively with a .433 hitting percentage (15 kills against just two errors).

JCU wouldn't go down without a fight as the Blue Streaks built momentum in game two. At one points, John Carroll led 18-10, but had to hold off a late charge for 30-26 victory that knotted the match at a game apiece.

In the pivotal game three, JCU held a brief 14-13 lead, but the Polar Bears would score the next four points and never looked back en route to 30-24 win.

The Polar Bears scored the final seven points in game four to ice away the match and improve to 19-4 overall and 5-0 in the OAC.

Freshman outside hitter, Abby Shaller led the Polar Bears in kills with 17 while teammate Samantha Markham laid down 15 and Liz Schnelle and Laura Vuyk each contributed 13 kills for the night. Setter Katie Weininger finished the night with 53 assists and libero Amanda Fought had 21 digs.

John Carroll's Meagan Gambone led all in kills with 20 and teammate Kate Schafer chipped in 11 kills and led the team with 18 digs. Emily Jackson finished with 17 digs and Celia Mastroine and Meredith McDiarmid each had 11 digs. McDiarmid also had 50 assists.

The loss dropped the Blue Streaks to 10-15 overall and 1-4 in the conference.
