Box Score
Matt Becker of Otterbein would score a goal on his team's first official shot on goal. In the seventh minute, Becker headed in a pass from Cody DiLauro to stake the Cardinals a 1-0 lead. That one goal advantage would stand the remainder of the opening period despite JCU holding a 12-5 advantage in shots taken.
John Carroll would not get the equalizer until its 14th shot.
Corey Rider (Vermilion, OH, Vermilion) sent a pass into the center of the box, and
Andrew Fatigati (Massillon, OH, Washington) was able to turn around and fire a shot that tucked inside the left post at the 56:58 mark for his fifth goal of the season.
At the 75:42 mark,
Kyle Buxman (Poland, OH, Youngstown Cardinal Mooney) would be the hero, chasing down a crisp pass from
Ryan Ricart (Erie, PA, McDowell) on the left side of the box and beating the Otterbein keeper with a shot to the right. His third goal of the year turned out to be the game winner.
John Carroll, which snapped a seven-match winless streak, improved to 7-5-5 overall and 1-2-3 in league play. Otterbein fell to 4-8-3 overall and 2-4-0 in league action.
This was John Carroll's first win since a 3-0 decision at Denison on September 23.
